Things to See and Do in Albuquerque #1

The Albuquerque Museum (2000 Mountain Road NW, Albuquerque, NM 87104) is 1.7 miles from the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque. [Museum website] The LCC 2022 intrepid co-chairs visited to see the Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism exhibit in April when the museum reopened. An unexpected bonus was an exhibit featuring José Guadalupe Posada’s amazing prints. We were impressed by both the exhibits and the museum itself. We will report back closer to the convention about current exhibits.

Sawmill Market is an easy walk of .3 miles from the Albuquerque Museum. [Sawmill Market website] There are plenty of tables both inside and out and numerous places to order food and drink. Here are a few we recommend.

Red & Green features approachable, locally sourced, authentic New Mexican cuisine crafted with modern techniques. NM Melt Co. offers grilled cheese sandwiches including the green chile melt, bacon, jam, and brie melt, and more.

Tulipani is a tiny pasta shop that offers a changing line of artisanal, fresh pastas that are made in small batches using the best organic flour, eggs, and seasonal ingredients available. Paxton’s Taproom features an extensive selection of the best local and regional beers and ciders from the Southwest.
