Fan Guests of Honor
For more than twenty-five years, the Friends of Mystery has served and promoted the mystery community from its home in Portland, Oregon. Each year, Friends of Mystery hosts Bloody Thursdays, an event in which acclaimed authors of mystery and true crime, as well as professionals in many fields of law enforcement and crime investigation, to speak to fans and aficionados of crime and mystery. Friends of Mystery also present an annual award, the Spotted Owl, for Best Northwest Mystery. Recipients of the award include Mike Lawson, John Straley, Kate Wilhelm. Kris Nelscott, Mike Doogan, Marcia Simpson, and more.

The Friends of Mystery Mission Statement
Friends of Mystery is a non-profit literary/educational organization headquartered in Portland, Oregon. Its purpose is to promote educational study in all realms related to mystery. Members are interested in fiction, true crime, how mysteries are solved, and many other aspects of knowledge that can be included in the term “mystery.”
