Getting To the Hotel: There is transportation for those of you who don't want to rent a car on the Big Island. Speedi Shuttle will take reservations and take you from the Kona Airport (DON'T GO TO HILO!) to the Marriott Waikoloa Hotel. The cost is about $45 for one person and a few dollars more for 2 or 3 people so it is very economical to share rides. In fact ask if there is a "share the ride" option for when you plan to arrive. The phone number is 808-329-5433 where you can make reservations before 2009. It is too early to make reservations online but in 2009 you can make reservations at www.speedishuttle.com.

News Flash:
Reservations are now being accepted for Hawaiian Airlines' inaugural flights from Oakland to Honolulu.
The service, which starts May 1, will help fill the void created by the bankruptcies of Aloha and ATA, both of which offered flights from Oakland International Airport to the Hawaiian islands. The airport has been without service to Hawaii during April.
Hawaiian's new daily flight will depart Oakland at 9 AM and arrives in Honolulu at 11:05 AM. The return flight leaves Honolulu at 1:30 PM and sets down in Oakland at 9:25 PM.

It's time to start planning for your air fight to Hawaii to enjoy Left Coast Crime 2009, March 7-12, 2009 (come early, stay late and enjoy our special excursions).

We are traveling in High Season and it makes great sense to book your flights early so you can arrive and depart on your own schedule. You can book one year from the date of your flight to the Big Island. Below are examples of flight locations (as of February 2008) to give you an idea about times and airports that service Kona (on the Big Island) and other connecting flights. Remember, you are booking for 2009 and you need to make sure that the airline folks get the dates correctly. Airlines are always changing their schedules, so be alert to their schedules. Travel well and arrive with the Aloha Spirit.
